Abstracting The Landscape is a brand new exhibiton by artist Lois Hopwood and will open on Friday 19th April.
Lois Hopwood, based in Knucklas, uses drawing, painting, sculpture and film to develop ideas that are a direct response to the place in which she lives and the landscape she occupies and through which she passes daily. Working with the contours of the landscape, the transformed fauna, the vernacular architecture, the often overlooked industrialization of the landscape, and in collaboration with local children, Hopwood has developed a way of working with the space, materiality and history of landscape of that places her within similar traditions to British artists as diverse as the filmmaker Michael Powell and the musician Kate Bush. Lois is part of Castle Hill Arts alongside Tony Hall and Tony Collier.
The gallery will be open every Saturday and Sunday (and bank holidays) 11am – 5pm.
This is a free event. As always, the Reading Room Café will also be open, serving drinks and homemade food with a warm welcome for all.
