ENVIRONMENT, SUSTAINABILITY & GARDENING

Satish Kumar’s lecture ‘Soil, Soul and Society’ at the Bleddfa Centre in autumn 2017 was an inspirational and educational talk on the human relationship with the natural world, the importance of caring for and reawakening our soul, and our role within the human community and the earth community. The success of this event has encouraged us to put on more sustainability and ecology-themed events, starting with an organic gardening talk and a documentary film screening.

Renowned gardener, author and ‘No Dig’ specialist, Charles Dowding, delivered a hugely successful, sold-out illustrated talk on healthy soil and easier harvests. Attendees learnt how to produce organic crops with fewer weeds, about different kinds of compost, clearing perennial weeds, and maintaining a no dig garden.
