Continence and Carnival in the Ritualisation of Time: A Talk by Stephen Hugh-Jones.
The presentation will examine the way humankind has marked the seasons and regular events of the year with naming, ritual and celebration. This will be the opening talk in a series in which experts from different fields look at time, ritual and the human condition.
Stephen was Senior Lecturer in Social Anthropology at Cambridge and has spent years on research work in the North West Amazon with Amerindians.
